The Vanderveer Brothers String Band is a driving and energetic old-time string band from the Fort Worth/Dallas metroplex that specializes in giving performances for many different kinds of events. Being extremely versatile, the brothers have enthused audiences of 10-15 to groups of 400+ with their rousing performances.
The brothers, each being multi-instrumentalists, play numerous instruments including: hammered dulcimer, guitar, banjo, fiddle, piano/keyboard, mandolin, mountain dulcimer, bones, pennywhistle, jaw harp, and harmonicas! Featuring the ONLY brothers ever to win the Lone Star State Hammered Dulcimer Competition, they combine musical excellence and unquestionable fun into an unforgettable experience!
The Vanderveer Brothers String Band has been playing Old Time style music since 2011. Christopher (18) plays the hammer dulcimer, mountain dulcimer, banjo, mandolin and piano. Nicholas (17) is the guitar player and also plays the mandolin and piano. Joel (14) plays the fiddle, piano, penny whistle and bones. Luke (12) plays the hammer dulcimer, mandolin, penny whistle and harmonica. Christopher was the 2014 Lone Star State Hammer Dulcimer champion and Luke was the 2013 Lone Star State Hammer Dulcimer champion. All four brothers have been taking piano lessons for several years and enjoy playing different styles of music on the piano. Learning to play the piano gave them the musical foundation needed to expand to other instruments and musical styles. They also enjoy playing baseball and football when they are finished with their home school studies. The brothers want to use their God-given talents to glorify God and to bring joy to others.
